Pablo Armero
Thought we sacked him off, not the other way around.
Regardless, I'd have Cresswell over him any day of the week!!

From TalkSport

Former West Ham defender Pablo Armero has slammed AC Milan boss Filippo Inzaghi and now regrets his decision to leave the east London club during the summer.

Armero spent the second half of last season on loan at Upton Park before enjoying a successful World Cup with Colombia during the summer.

The 28-year-old was being tipped to secure a permanent move to West Ham before AC Milan made their move for the talented full-back and Sam Allardyce switched his attentions to Aaron Cresswell.

But Armero has only played one game for the Italian giants as a substitute and says he wanted to join a club where he could become one of the best players.

Armero, speaking on El Universal, said: "I've had a meeting with Mr Inzaghi. I didn't ask to go to Milan, I asked to go to a team where I could be a leader.

"It was Inzaghi who called and asked me to go to Milan, because he said he was depending on me.

"But so far I haven't found space in Serie A, where I thought I'd play regularly after a good World Cup.

"I'm not one of those players who likes to talk about what's going on in the dressing room, but the situation is quite difficult for me with Inzaghi at Milan.

"He said: 'come here, I need you'. I thought that he really meant it, but I never play."

We didn't want him.

PACE but not very good defensively.

I don't believe that.

Even if true, he chose them over us and now is crying about it .

Cresswell is the best left back we've had since Julian Dicks

Armero can do one

I realise this isn't probably going to go down that well but I do hope Cresswell performs better as an actual defender.

Yeah yeah yeah I know he's great going forward and I love way he can cross a ball but I'm an old fashioned kind of bloke and I want a left-back to be primarily a good defender first. Him charging up the pitch looks great but really puts our central defenders under the cosh.

Dicksy used to maraud forward at times but his superb range of passing meant that he could ping a ball up wherever he wanted whilst still staying roughly in position ready to murder any tricky right-winger who dared go anywhere near him.

Maybe that's what Cresswell needs to develop- a nasty streak. Jenkinson, Demel and to a certain extent O'Brien seem to know when to kick a player up in the air.

Re: Pablo Armero
chim chim cha boo ~ I agree with that

Cresswell has the makings of a very good LB & I believe he's still learning

He gets caught out of position too often for me, at the moment, though that part of his game has improved

Also I agree that he needs to develop that fullbacks nasty mean streak that all great fullbacks have

His forward runs, crosses & stamina are terrific

We are stacked at fullback. When is the last time you could say that? Happy days.

Re: Pablo Armero
Of our recent left backs Cresswell has definitely been the best. Rat was too erratic and used to leave the defence exposed on the counter attack, Armero was slightly better but was more of a winger or wing back who was better at attacking but weak in defence. Cresswell, although not the finished article, is a much better player and can defend as well as attack, which, after all, is what a decent defender should be able to do.

I fully concur.
In fact I cannot understand how anyone gives him good marks defensively.
He is an excellent crosser of the ball (much better than Jarvis), but defensively he's a disaster waiting to happen.
I cite Stoke's second goal as an example. That was as pathetic as any defensive fuck up I've seen by a West Ham player.
Gary Breen would have been shaking his head at that one.

Well, at least it's been confirmed you haven't seen much of West Ham over the years.

He's handed the opposition 3 goals on a plate. Cresswell is far from the finished article. Better than Amero? I doubt it.

Re: Pablo Armero
I think Cresswell has a way to go. I like him and I think he's a good signing but he needs to do a lot of work defensively.

As for Almero. I thought he was a good player who somehow found himself behind Taylor and O brien at times due to the genius of our glorious leader.

Ha.

Because Taylor played a lot at left back last season.

Armero looked a lot like Cresswell, good going forward, suspect defending at times. Cresswell makes better decisions but Armero is faster. Would have like to keep the Columbian and see how he could have developed but not bothered now because we have someone younger on what I imagine is probably less money, not that I know for sure.

Re: Pablo Armero
He's not even a left-back...

Unless my altzeimer's is kicking in, I'm pretty sure he played as a conventional winger at the world cup and somebody else was in the number 3 slot...

Poor Defender...

As a wide attacker...not good enough for The Prem...or West Ham...

Lots, most obviously that Taylor ever played in front Armero.

But its not all about you, you know.
